+ About Staffordshire Police Unison

From April 1995 Police Staff ceased to be employees of the County Council and were transferred to the employment of the Police Authority, with responsibility devolved to the Chief Constable.

UNISON is the only Union able to negotiate on behalf of all Police Staff.

From 1st January 2001, following the formation of Staffordshire Police UNISON, we have our own full time Branch Secretary, full time Assistant Branch Secretary and Branch Administrator.

Staffordshire Police UNISON Office at 7 Hearn Court, Rising Brook, Stafford, ST17 9QN.

The Force has also developed office accommodation at Hearn Court, in order to ensure that Staffordshire Police Staff receive the standards of service to which our Police colleagues have become accustomed from the Police Federation.

Locally, a recognition and facilities agreement has been negotiated which has updated and redefined the extensive support already enjoyed by all UNISON members, Branch Officers and Stewards, from the Chief Constable.

Police Staff in England and Wales now have their own specific National Service Group Branches in each Police Force area, which, through the Police Staff Council, on which UNISON holds the majority of seats, negotiates our national terms and conditions of service. As a UNISON member your views can be made known through the Branch and Regional structures.

Locally, terms and conditions enjoyed by Staffordshire Police Staff, are already, in many cases, in advance of those enjoyed elsewhere and we continue to negotiate on your behalf for further improvements.
