+ Bucket & Spade Appeal
Although there has been a huge growth in tourism a quarter of the UK’s population, including many families with children, are excluded from taking holiday’s, mainly because they cannot afford them. The bucket and spade appeal aims to raise £150,000 for family holidays provided by UNISON Welfare.

There are still places on the UNISON Welfare, 2010 Charity Challenge Events.  I have a number of application forms and am available to talk you through the events should you wish to know more.  All events are planned to be challenging, whilst allowing the maximum member participation.  The Challenges are:

Catalonia Mountains to Coast Challenge

3 Days Trekking from the Pyrenean Foothills to the Catalan Coast
1st  - 5th April 2010.
Registration fee £195 and a minimum sponsorship of £1,250.00

The Three Peaks Challenge

The classic UK Challenge event, trek the three biggest mountains in the UK, Ben Nevis, Scaffell Pike and Mt Snowdon.
13th - 16th May 2010
Registration fee £45.00 and a minimum sponsorship of £750

The Maine Challenge

Cycle 250 miles along the Atlantic Coast of Maine USA starting in Portland and finishing in the Acadia National Park.
28th August - 4th September 2010
registration fee nil, instead participants must pay for their own return flights to and from Maine*. The minimum sponsorship fee to be raised  is £2,500.00

*Portland is under two hours from Boston and there are a number of ways of travelling to and from Portland.
