CITATION
Despite working full time in the Staffordshire Police Southern Area Control Room and raising a family, Alison Fulton has carried out training with the Staffordshire Ambulance Service in order to take an active role as a Community First Responder in her rural village of Wheaton Aston and its surrounding areas.
Since completing her training in July 2005 Alison has taken on this voluntary role in support of the ambulance service without any funding, she is responsible for providing her own transport, equipment, uniform and insurance.
Alison draws up rotas with other volunteers in the area in order to ensure a full 24/7 cover where possible. Alison regularly works three or four rest days on first responder duties. She is passionate about the benefits the group can bring to rural communities and she uses every opportunity to inform the community of the role, she also gives talks to various organisations in order to increase the general awareness and to raise funds for the group.
The Chief Constablewas delighted to invite Pam Edwards to present the ‘Peter Edwards’ Citizenship and Achievement Award to Alison Fulton. |
